I have been thinking a lot about the current events all around the world lately. There are so many things going on…wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya; the earthquake and tsunami in Japan; the continued aftermath issues from the earthquake in Haiti; flooding in California; record breaking winter in US northeast; famine in third world areas; pirates at sea; unemployment at all time highs; financial woes; fire dangers elevated in so many places do to drought conditions; and the list goes on.
The plight of humanity as a whole seems to be as dismal and hopeless as I can remember. I cannot imagine facing all that is going on without the help of the Lord. The world is dying and we are watching Biblical prophecy being fulfilled on a daily basis. Is it as dark as it is going to get? Nope! But, it is dark just the same.
For the last couple of nights the Super Moon has been visible. This is a rare phenomenon, so rare that it will not happen again until 2029! I stand amazed that in a time where all seems to be so bleak, that we can see something so unique. The light from this Super Moon was brilliant! You have to love it when you can physically see that the moon is shining more brightly than normal.
I see it like this…in the darkest of nights, there is a bright light. So, even though our current events seem very dark…there is a hope that shines bright. God promises to light the path of the righteous. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” The Word of God is like the Super Moon. The forest represents all the negative things that we are seeing here at home and round the world. With such a light, the forest is not as scary as it might be.
I for one have determined that I am going to seek God by being rooted in the Word and trust Him for provision. I also believe that He will continue his faithfulness, thereby, He is lighting up my paths. I choose to rely on the fact that He sends us a super bright light to break the curse of all the darkness that hinders us.
